“THE BODY STILL HAS A LOT TO TELL”.

I scroll through pictures on Instagram when I get hit with that  of a sculpture. An embryo embraced by an elderly hand, perhaps a male one, which holds it, creates it or takes it away, with love and protection. A divine nest that I cannot stop looking at.

The sculpture is called  Protect David. A subsequent study will be  Root and eternal  by the Milanese artist Elena Mutinelli. The work was part of the exhibition  We, not even damned  curated by Vittorio Sgarbi at the Etra Studio Tommasi gallery, by Francesca Sacchi Tommasi in Florence, which ended this February 29th.

I meet Elena Mutinelli first in her studio in Milan then in front of the Duomo, where there are works that bear her signature. Small and giant, a lady with a timeless face and deep green eyes, a warm voice and refined language; he will tell me about sculpture, mystery, art and freedom, about hope in man, and what he sees in the dark.
